A suggestion to writers, from a fan

Firstly, THANK YOU for a wonderful response to the petition. You folks are tops!

Okays, so about writings. It's been a sad fact that writings on dA don't get as much response as pictures, I guess because it requires reading, and reading takes time. Still, reading a well written piece or about a favourite topic is totally worth it The problem I have is that I often can't tell if a piece of writing is something that might interest me or not.

dA offers thumbnail previews, and they have cool scrolling for text. If, instead of disclaimers or going straight into the story, the first paragraph is an excerpt or summary of the story, it would help potential fans to identify it.

Example (taken from P.D.Pirl, who makes good use of previews, although the full stats are probably overkill for dA purposes)

The Taming of a Feral - Prologue

Fandom: World of Warcraft
Genre: Action, Romance
Warnings: Femmeslash
Spoilers: None
Summary: A blood elf huntress confuses a night elf druid for a Ghostclaw in the Eastern Plaguelands. When she attempts to tame this rare beast, she finds out she's going to need more than a few juicy treats to win over this particular cat.

Remember, some people only go as far as your first page, so you have maybe 3-4 seconds to grab their attention. Why not make use of the previews?
