It's funny, the motion of the paint strokes in some spots strikes me as very Van-Gogh - the hair in particular feels impressionist. I like the semi-realistic take here - it doesn't feel quite as natural as her counterpart, but she's a much less ordinary looking character no? Such a casually confident pose, such an easy open smile - I can feel an energetic flow to all her movements - easy, simple, honest power. The background evokes professional photography, but has a subtle dynamism to it.

Fabulous work!

*coff* The style wasn't referring to an art style xD itsthepicirippedofffrom

Thanks a lot! I had fun speedpainting this. Gem's one was supposed to be a speedpaint too, but ended up taking double the time. I'm such a snail. Glad you liked this one. It's a bit different, you're absolutely right. Took me a while to get used to it myself, but I ended up really liking the down-to-earthness of it, because that's the kind of person Kate is - unassuming. Despite wearing that Gucci number

I have the feeling that if Kate is wearing Gucci, it's just a reflection of what her friends and loved one's feel about her, not what she's likely to spend on herself.  Your speed-painting kicks the ass of most peoples snail painting. I have to admire your fidelity to your characters.  It makes them feel like real people, not just tools to tell a story or make money off a concept.

You're absolutely right! Kate got dragged into it. She scrubs up well though xD A lot of kudos goes to Higs to take them out, dust them off, and give them a makeover. It's amazingly fun to do a "what if", though I can imagine it'd be an enormous (a little pun intended) challenge to give your girls a "what if" makeover -- if they can even fit through the shop door.

They'd just pop the roof off and hop in!

Heh, but part of that depends on which girls and which VERSIONS of my girls I use.  Alexis in Echo Unspeakable is built like a gymnast (and about as short - and as you can imagine feisty).  However my own fanfiction version of the same lady is (as you know) quite a bit bigger.  Now she could probably still make it through the door if she's relaxed (with a little manuevering).  If she's pumped and squeezing those muscles there might be a bit of a geological disturbance . . . . in which case she'd just make her own door.
Still, I have to admit I haven't paid much attention to clothing fashion since the late nineties so all of my characters probably look a tad outdated.  It would be interesting to see what someone on the outside would do with the more mainstream versions of my girls (Even if Queen Schyr might not know what to make of the Dolce and Gabana sunglasses). ;)

I really liked the updated rendition. really liked her calm serene smile when you first showed me.

I half expected a more manga feel to their look, but the more realistic take, suite them both ^^

You already know my stake in this, but the arts just icing on the cake!

Thanks, and thanks to you!

Me too, I thought it'd be the normal manga style, but then as I shaped Kate's face, I thought, what the hell, let's try something different. You've helped these characters come alive, and inspired me to wonder how they might look if they were real people. It took me a while to get used to Kate's features, but yeah, I like her smile too : )
